Just a few reasons why the Philadelphia area has the best Craft Beer scene on the East Coast.
Below are just a few reasons why we here at Side Bar & Restaurant have the ability to do what we do within the craft beer scene:
> Philly has one of the longest established Beligan beer scenes in the country (Monk’s, Eulogy, Bridgid’s). Being a leader on this front helped build a knowledge beer drinking base.
> Philly has had some regional breweries/brew pubs that have been doing the craft thing for a while now… Victory (1996), SlyFox (1995), Troegs (1996), Stoudt’s (1987), Weyerbacher (1995), Yards (1994)… all of these brands did a pretty good job finding there way into bars accross the area, converting people to craft beer along the way.
> Philly/Southeastern PA has some beer distributors that have really pushed for getting craft brewers to come to PA.
> Philly has always been a beer drinking town… pre-prohibition there were more or less 100 breweries within the city limits. We have a neighborhood here that is called Brewerytown because it once housed dozens of breweries.
